This year the Colorado Association for School-Based
Health Care introduced the Inspiration Awards in recognition of those who have dedicated themselves to
improving the field of school health. The award recipients were
selected from nominations submitted by their peers and were
recognized at an awards banquet in April 2008. The 2008 honorees
are:

Outstanding School-Based Dental Provider:
Joie Foster, RDH, Weld County School District
Outstanding School-Based Mental Health

Jaynee Fontecchio-Spradling RN, MS, Durango School District
Champion of School-Based Health Care:
Larry Wolk, MD, The Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics
Lifetime Achievement:
Betty Pepin, Community Health Services

proudly presents the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award to
Betty Pepin, Executive Director of Community Health
Services in Commerce City, Colorado. We applaud
her 21 years of dedication to improving
the health of Colorado’s children.Betty began her
work as an administrative assistant at Community Health
Services and became the Executive Director in 1994. In
addition to serving on several local boards and
committees, Betty has been on the board of CASBHC since
its inception in 1996 and serves on the Governmental Affairs
Committee for the National Assembly on School Based
Health Care.
